CASTING FOR BETWEEN FAITH AND DESIRE

Between Faith & Desire: What Choice Do You Have?  This is a play that I am producing and directing.  Oh who am I?  I am Mr. Cooley.  My cousin, Sgt. Franklin wrote the play but is now serving his country proudly overseas.  He entrusted me with his words and asked me to take his words from the page to the stage.  I can’t let him down now can I?

I am currently casting for the following roles:

R&B group Desire

Desire is made up of Melonie, Sharon & Vanessa; 3 life long friends and members of an R&B singing group.  Melonie is the lead singer. Sharon is the feisty skeptic and Vanessa is more of the comedic one. I am looking for 3 young actresses who can sing and dance to play these roles.

Sista Betty is an older woman leader of the church and mentor to the three girls. She is funny and wise. The actress who plays Sista Betty will need to sing as well.

Rev. Woods is the pastor of the Mt. Zion Baptist Church. The actor in this role needs to be able to speak and sing like a somewhat flamboyant baptist preacher.

Little Man is a young misguided boy.

Dante is a music producer.  He’s a good looking guy and needs to be able to sing.

Donovan is a record executive at Fire Records and a co-worker of Dante.  I just need a solid actor to play this role & it would help if he was vertically challenged.

Which leads us to the star of the show!

Oswald Stone is the owner of Fire Records and Manager to the Stars! He is one who is going to make all of the girls dreams come true; fulfill all of their desires.  He is a powerful but very shady man and essentially amoral.  He gets what he wants. The actor who lands this role will need to exude confidence, charisma, power, sex appeal and be able to tap into his darkside and express it comfortably.
